Fae Gems & Baubles, Etsy: Elf Ear Cuffs, for Fairy Lovers, Cosplayers, and New Agers

Kiara
I don’t like to flaunt my creations, (in fact, I write more about other people’s art in Artist Spotlights than my own) but for a dose of good measure- and to prove that I am actually a crafter- I present Fae Gems & Baubles Elven Ear Cuffs! I began my Etsy store back in June of this year, and I’ve been having a blast wire wrapping. I’m aiming to create new age friendly baubles that enhance the lives of those who receive them. I’ve been mulling over the idea of hosting weekly giveaways, or creating an in-store credit program; I don’t want to be inhibited in my black jasper elf earsspirit work because of monetary confinements.

I started crafting these ear cuffs as part of a fascination with the Fae Realm (and dressing the part!). Each elf/fairy ear cuff may be worn to invoke the properties of the gemstones they’re crafted with; my Aventurine cuffs are the most popular, as they invoke the presence of faries!

Each elven ear cuff is made with copper wire to augment the metaphysical properties of the stones featured in each piece. For calmness and solidarity of thought, take a peek at the

Black Jasper is for youAmethyst offers wearers divine spiritual guidance, and may be used to re-attune, or awaken latent psychic abilities.

I’ve recently graduated to creating male Elven ear cuffs (they’re made with thicker wire), so that guys can partake in the wonderment too! They’re available in Black Jasper, and a Red Agate combination; they’ve been getting favorites!

The cuffs come in a pair, and may be ordered with additional pieces, such as matching pendants, hair pins, fairy rings, and bangles.

Fae Gems & Baubles Etsy Update; Wire Wrapped Rings for Fairy Lovers & Future Tutorials

I couldn’t resist writing a quick post about my new Fairy inspired, double wire wrapped rings! They are first in a line of rings I plan to base off of magickal beings: dragons, undines, and gnomes being the most anticipated.

This fairy ring is perfect for the lover of crystals and everything magickal! When I work with gemstones I try to imbue as much benevolent energy as possible to benefit the wearer. I avoid crafting all together if I’m not in the right state of mind, or if my energy is foul.

I started wire wrapping pendants without much of a clue. When I started researching how to wire wrap two stones together it was a disaster. There is virtually no content on how to effectively wrap multiple stones, it’s like some ancient crafting secret only the elite are privy to- unlike the myriad of content available on wire wrapping.Metaphysical, fairy, magick

In the weeks to come I plan to write in-depth tutorials about various wire wrapping techniques, including wrapping multiple pendants, creating textures with wire, and incorporating colored wire, without being overbearing.

The New Etsy Shop: The Budding Origins of Fae Gems and Wire Wrapping

Opalite Pendant As a purebred procrastinator, I thought it only natural to wait until I was ripping out my unruly, frazzled hair, using dwindling $.50 candle nubs as my only source of light, and smothering the sounds of my craft with a fortress of hotel pillows to finish the wedding gifts I would bequeath to my mother and her new groom.

Rewind to three weeks prior: I watched this stunning wire wrapping tutorial, whilst pondering memento-appropriate wedding gifts for my darling mother, Monica, and her high school love-lost and found again, Robert. I was bewitched by the beauty of Liz Kreate’s artistic ability.

As a studied New Age practitioner, my dwellings are glamoured and adorned with crystals, stones, and minerals; although my reverence for beautiful crystal jewelry was solidified while I worked at The Jeweled Castle during my teenage years, it never dawned on me that I could make beautiful wire wrapped jewelry.

jeweled Castle

It began as an upward struggle, mired by tangled wire (that was undoubtedly the wrong gauge), encroached upon by kittens voracious for the dangling wired mysteries, and the frustrated pining of a novice at her craft. After dozens of determined failures to capture the magnificence of Liz Kreate’s wire craftmanship, I took matters into my raw-fingered hands and created from the heart. (Well, I’ll be more honest and admit that this three minute video established the fundamental groundwork of my craft.)

I learned that wire wrapping is an espousal of the stone’s innate energies and the artists’ manifestation of ethereal vibrations. Working with the energy of crystals is an essential aspect of successful wire wrapping. Crafting ten pendants for the wedding was the first step in my search to make tangible, practical uses of my metaphysical knowledge.

From the encouragement of my family and friends, I seek to gift the world the joviality and energy that crystals give to me. If not for the cost of materials, I would elect to freely give them.

A very special thank you to Amy, who prompted me to open Fae Gems & Baubles, and bought my first Amber pendant (Hufflepuff inspired). What were your Etsy beginnings and the adventures leading up to your craft?
