The upcoming premier of The Walking Dead is upon us! This Sunday’s Artist Spotlight features a hilarious greeting card (Holiday card perhaps, you Christmas/Merriment shoppers, you) perfect for any Walking Dead fan. (Trust me, you have to watch the show to understand why this is genius- and IT IS!)
The Walker masterminds behind this rendition of Rick Grimes’ famous “CORRRRAALL” [Carl] call are Kelsie & Christina; together they run Diamond Cake on Etsy selling incredibly cute greeting cards, often based off of popular shows and celebs. Check out their power-crazed Walker White “Rocks!” card from Breaking Bad, and King Joffery’s “King Shit,” from the historical fiction sensation, Game of Thrones.
The duo also offers custom lovers portraits for anniversaries and special occasions! Consider ordering custom Holiday Cards for the family this year with your beautiful face to bespeckle the mailboxes across the nation!
Kelsie says:
I come up with a concept and digitally render the illustration in Photoshop. I usually try to hone in on subjects that are big in popular culture and then I try to add a unique or clever
twist onto the design. That’s where CAAAAAAARD came in. I knew I wanted to do a Walking Dead piece but I still wanted to have fun with it. So it’s a reference to Rick always shouting after Carl. I wanted to create something that real fans would get and make them smile, an inside joke of sorts.
I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead. I started watching with my husband and we haven’t missed an episode since. He used to read the comics with our newborn son on his chest, (he has since stopped reading them when the boy is around). I also have a major crush on Rick, and my main criticism of the show is that there are not enough love scenes with Rick.
Be sure to check out Kelsie & Christina’s latest work on Etsy! What do you think of CAAAAAAARD?
